Mitchell & Tyler (American (Richmond, Virginia), active 1845-66). A Southern American coin silver serving ladle with wide flat handle bearing chased and repousse scrolls and single leaf decoration and narrowing to slender neck over shell form basin. Underside of handle with impressed rectangular cartouche bearing maker's mark "MITCHELL & TYLER". Approximate length 12". Total approximate weight 3.65 troy ounces. Note: An example of this ladle is in the permanent collection at the Richmond Art Museum in Richmond, Virginia.
Overall in very good condition. Light surface scratches, commensurate with age & usage. No apparent pitting. Monogram of a Gothic "B" to handle.
