- Lot Description
Continental, 19th century. Miniature portrait painting on oval panel depicting a young woman in white lace veil and blue gown at bust length in profile praying against a mountainous background, cut off signature visible at left of figure's shoulder. Oval miniature portrait contained within a bone veneered rectangular frame. Framed approximately 4.25" x 3.9". Portrait panel approximately . 1.8" x 1.5".
Condition
Painting examined out of the frame. Miniature portrait with no apparent scratches, losses, or in painting. Edges of bone not completely rounded. Bone veneer of frame with no apparent losses, with a few minor scuffs at top right visible in raking light, the gilt metal with slight oxidation and losses. Painting glass with very minor chips to edges.
