After Jean Baptiste Santerre (French, 1651-1717), "Portrait of Marie-Adelaide de Savoie, Duchesse de Bourgogne"-1709, miniature portrait after the French master's original depicting a bust length view young Duchess with blue gown with jeweled frets, lace trim and ermine fur cape, signed lower right "Santerre". Portrait contained in an ornate gilt metal frame with easel back support, measuring approximately 6.75" x 4.9". Portrait panel measures approximately 3.3" x 2.6".
Examined out of the frame and under black light: No apparent chips or repairs to paint layer or bone surface. Residue to upper right, likely from older frame or mounting. Abraded area to upper right with paint loss, also likely from older frame or mounting. Verso of bone with remnant of older paper backing. Frame with minor separation at corner joints.
