Chinese, 20th century. A Ming Dynasty style large porcelain orange peel Cong vase with round foot surmounted by rectangular body and tapering round neck, two sides of body with hand painted decoration of figures in landscapes, the other two opposing panels with decoration depicting birds on branches, the bird panels each with applied elephant head and ring handles, each panel with two lines of calligraphic marks in black or red and some with seal marks. Unmarked. Approximate height 17.5", width across handles 9.5".
Overall very good condition. Minimal wear with paint loss to the elephant mask handles. Small area of overpainting. No chips, cracks or repairs noted.
