- Lot Description
Richard Kidwell Miller (American (New York/ West Virginia), 1930-2014). "Siamese Cats" - 1956, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right "Rich Miller '56". Mid-century modernist painting depicts a pair of Siamese cats sitting beside each other, each resting on back feet with front paws squarely aligned in front and tails curling forward around them, with a tall glass vase holding a pink flower resting between the cats, the cats peering out at the viewer from widset almond shaped blue eyes, the background being loosely handled abstract blocks of blues and grays with a faint garland form at upper center. Framed approximately 31.25" x 23.375", unframed approximately 30" x 22".
Condition
Painting in excellent condition. Work with no rips, tears or holes. Paint layer stable with little to no visible losses. Under black light examination, little to no signs of in-painting.
