Meissen (German, founded 1710- ), 19th century. Porcelain plaque with finely hand painted enamels after the masterpiece by Raphael Sanzio da Urbino (Italian, 1583-1520), "Madonna di San Sisto" also known as "Sistine Madonna"-1512, currently housed in the Gemaldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden, Germany. Work depicting the Madonna standing at center holding the Christ Child flanked by St. Sixtus and St. Barbara on heavenly clouds, green curtains at top, lower with winged cherubs. Marked on back with blue crossed pommel sword mark under glaze for Meissen (dating to between 1815-1924). Overall framed approximately 19.25" x 16.25". Plaque unframed approximately 11.3" x 8.3".
Overall very good condition. Porcelain plaque is slightly loose in frame but in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration noted. Back of plaque with tape residue and some minor grime. Frame has scattered chips with minor losses. Rubbing with finish loss to inner surround or rabbet.
