Meissen (German, founded 1710- ), 19th century. Porcelain plaque with finely hand painted enamels after the masterpiece by Raphael Sanzio da Urbino (Italian, 1583-1520), "Madonna della sedia" also known as "Madonna della seggiola"-1514, currently housed in the Palzzo Pitti in Florence. Work depicting the Madonna and Child (infant Jesus) in loving embrace with a young John the Baptist at right side holding cross. Marked on back with blue crossed pommel sword mark under glaze for Meissen (dating to between 1815-1924). Overall framed approximately 16.25". Plaque unframed approximately 8.9" square.
Overall very good condition. Porcelain plaque is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration noted. Back of plaque with some minor grime. Frame has scattered chips with minor losses. Cracks and rubbing with finish loss to inner surround or rabbet.
