"Pee-Che-Kir, A Chippewa Chief.", hand colored lithograph, published by Daniel Rice adn James G. Clark, Philadelphia in 1843 as part of McKenney & Hall’s "History of the Indian Tribes", drawn, printed, and colored at The Lithographic & Print Colouring Establishment, No. 94 Walnut St., Philadelphia. Lithograph depicts the Native American Chippewa Tribe chief, Pee-Che-Kir (c.1759-1855) at bust length with face turned down and slightly to his left, the subject wearing natural colored garments, a metal arm band to his right arm, and holding a wooden pipe across his body, the end obscured by a blanket laid over his left shoulder. Framed approximately 28" x 23", 15.25" x 10".
Work attached with hinging tape at top and NOT laid down. Colors rich with little to no signs of fading. Work with light even toning to sheet. Losses to top right corner, sheet appears to have been cut down on left side. Light handling wear and discoloration visible. No signs of rips, tears or holes.
