Martha Bloom (American, b. 1951-), "Look We Have Come Thru", oil on canvas, signed lower right "Bloom" and inscribed on verso "Look we have come thru" and "Martha Bloom". Horizontally-aligned modern abstract painting depicting overlapping organic forms in mulit-colors. Framed approximately 24.5" x 32.5". Unframed approximately 24" x 32". Note: Bloom attended the Art Students League of New York, Art Institute of Boston, Massachusetts and Green Mountain College, Vermont. Bloom studied painting with noted artists such as Isaac Soyer, Sidney Dickinson and Bruce Dorfman. Bloom's work has been exhibited widely and is represented in many private and public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Academy, Columbia Museum, Delaware Art Museum and the Library of Congress.
Examined under blacklight. Paint layer stable with few areas of subtle craquelure to the fields of dark teal. One area of inpainting to lower right edge of canvas to left of signature. One small area of loss to upper edge left of center. In painting and loss are neigther obvious nor distracting. No other apparent abrasions, losses, tears, or punctures.
