Manner of Hui Wang (Chinese, 1632-1717). "Boats Beside Mountains", ink and pigment on paper, three inscriptions in black calligraphy, one to page above painting and two to pages flanking painting, as well as 23 red seal stamps throughout painting along edges. A late 19th/ early 20th century painting depicting a mountainous landscape with lake or river to left edge, the body of water holding two fishing boats each with a single fisherman holding fishing poles over side of boat, the tall and craggy mountains at right and in foreground topped with dark trees and shrubbery, some flowering in pink, and a single pagoda form building at center right, the painting to a green and ivory silk surround on stained wood roller. Overall approximately 84" x 30".
Even toning throughout commensurate with age. Minor darkening and discolorations to several areas likely to due handling, one notable 6" long streak to center left above mountains, not distracting. Apparent water damage to silk surround on yellow section and on silk above roller, not apparently interfering with painting. 1" long fragment of paper attached at center right to the silk surround. No apparent rips, tears, or losses.
