Tiffany & Co. (American (New York), founded 1837), circa 1870s. A pair of large and intricately cast patinated bronze andirons in the Renaissance Revival style each comprising tapered columns surmounted by gadrooned finials resting on plinths surmounted by Ionic column capitals, the columns comprising a foliate scroll pattern with central rondel with relief cast lion face masques, flanked by bronze pulls, each column raised on a shelf over a large scrolled oval form cartouche, flanked by pierced and scrolled side columns decorated with large c-scrolls and surmounted by gadrooned urns with ball and point finials, raised on a molded breakfront plinth base, the back of each piece with a curving balustrade form firedog terminating in a small obelisk flanked by two c-scrolls and surmounted by a small urn and point finial, the two andirons joined by a central connecting rod of conforming design with central cast lion face masque. Approximate height 37.5", width 84", depth 12".
