- Lot Description
Continental, likely French, late 19th or early 20th century. A stained oak display cabinet of grand scale or large size, comprising sides projecting beyond the depth of the door, the molded frieze decorated with carved Rococo shells punctuated by leaf motifs, over the display facade comprising the large central drawer carved with coved corners and reeded molding, each corner decorated with a high relief carved central oval framing a patera, flanked by round scrolled acanthus leaves, the door opening to large display space centered by one conforming glass shelf, the mirrored backboard and windowed sides for display, the facades of the sides with molded carved leaf motifs flanked by scrolls, the waist molding decorated with carved gadrooning, all raised on four Baroque pierced and heavily carved legs comprising of scrolls and central cabochons with paterae and heavily carved acanthus decoration, each leg on a rectangular base raised on turned feet joined by a molded squared central stretcher with central heavily carve and beaded shell flanked by heavily carved scrolls. Approximate height 76.25", width 55", depth 20".
