20th century. Large and heavy Renaissance style figural bronze garden fountain with weathered verdi gras patina throughout, rounded circular basin with four satyr head mounts with twisted horns and curled hair and beard with open mouths (piped for expelling water), basin with ornate grape leaf, vine and fruit motif above beaded gardooning, shaft with additional leaf tip and patterning with scrolling and fluting, four nude wingless putti or cherub sit on scrolled seats holding floral garlands and fruit clusters alternating with scaled dolphin fish with upswept tails on leaf tip and scrolled base further supported on a round plinth. Unmarked. Overall approximate height 41", diameter of top. 43.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
We would estimate this fountain weighs approximately 225 pounds. Oxidized patina throughout with scattered spots of rust. Rim on top and bottom with scattered dents to form. Light wear to elements from exposure to outdoors, most visible on tops of horns. Scattered minor pitting. No further overt losses, repairs or damage.
