- Lot Description
Anthony Redmile (British, 20th century), circa 1970s. Designer large and impressive Moorish style gilt washed metal lidded or covered box with rounded egg shaped malachite cabochon on finial above ostrich egg within a pointed and twisted ribbon metal border on a sloping and paneled octagonal body with alternating blank and ornamented sides with large malachite mounts, fitted lid removes to reveal green patinated interior, alternating panels repeating on lower section of container terminating on a octagonal foot with four oval malachite accents on a circular foot. Marked "redmile London". Overall approximate height 23.75", diameter of foot 7.5".
Condition
Some overall tarnishing, smudging and soiling, with some seam separations, pitting, and flea bites. Some polish residue. Interior with losses to paint, scratching, and soiling. Some oxidation to screw at base of interior. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
