German, 19th century. Large Meissen figural porcelain potpourri urn, the reticulated lid with floral encrusted bouquet, the urn with scrolled leafy and flowering handles, one handle mounted with winged cherub holding a flower encrusted with fruit and foliage, the other handle with fruit and flowering foliage, the reserve to one side with painting of courting couple after Watteau, the other with floral bouquet, all on white ground, floral and fruit encrusted with insects, the circular base with a seated maiden with floral basket further encrusted with foliage and fruit. Marked to the underside in underglaze blue crossed swords. Height 20.5", width 13", depth 11".
Damage with repair to floral finial on top with chips to petals and leaves. Wear to gilt enamel. Some minor soiling. Winged putti has damage to hand and missing something in hand, probably a flower. Numerous minute chips and flea bites to flower petals, leaves and stems. Not distracting.
