Timothy M. Matt (American, 20th century to contemporary). "Phase II", acrylic on canvas, signed lower right, inscribed to verso of canvas. Large scale geometric abstract work comprising repeated lines of stamped circles, squares, triangles, waves, and sawtooths in thin washes of seaglass colors purple, pink, green, blue, and yellow, some of the patterning overlapping or meeting to create further patterned star shapes. Gallery wrapped canvas approximately 48.25" x 60". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Ann Jacob of Highlands, North Carolina. Note: canvas is currently wired to hang vertically, but placement of signature indicates horizontal hanging.
Painting not relined. Painting overall with handling scuffs and discolorations to white margins, some encroaching on matrix the most significant a very thin 10" linear scuff at top center - would benefit from professional cleaning. Sides of canvas with further scuffing and minor abrasions commensurate with general handling. Paint layer stable. No apparent tears or losses.
