Sarreguemines Pottery (France, 1790 - 1983), late 19th/early 20th century. A large majolica jardiniere or centerpiece having a rectangular form with rounded ends, the interior in turquoise glaze, the shaped cobalt rim with reticulated scrolling foliate border and centered to each side with Satyr mask, the ends having figural winged mounts raised on a conforming brown glazed base. Impressed 'Sarrequemines 779' to the underside. Approximate height 8" width 24", depth 11.6".
Scattered crazing to glaze throughout commensurate with age. Hairline fracture to one wing (at shoulder) on side of centerpiece. One reticulated side with eight small breaks with later repairs (visible without black light, but stable and not overly distracting). Light wear to bottom with a few minor flakes. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
