Chinese Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD) style large Sancai glazed pottery sculpture depicting a caparisoned horse standing foursquare with glazed trappings in green and gold throughout. Saddle draped with a thickly textured blanket with remnants of pinkish orange. Animal's body in cream to white raised atop a integral rectangular base. Approximate height 19.9", width 7.4", depth 18.7". Note: These horses may be period Tang Dynasty works as they have a soft exterior and they absorb liquid quickly--typical of authentic pottery works.
Scattered chips and losses throughout commensurate with age. Polychrome losses throughout--under black light examination some signs of retouches. Evidence of some dirt and grime may benefit from cleaning. Hole at back where tail would have originally been. C shaped hairline crack at front of horse's chest. Cracking around tassels on harness.
