Chinese, 20th century. Large, impressive and heavy carved stone figural floor sculpture in the form of a seated Quanyin (Buddhist goddess of mercy and compassion) depicted with stylized hair pulled up and ornamented with figural and lotus flower motif crown. Figure with calm and serene facial expression with rounded cheeks, almond eyes, and elongated earlobes. Deity figure wearing beaded necklace, bangle bracelets and long flowing robes. One hand holding small orb, the other with thumb gracefully touching middle figure in mudra. Female figure seated on a jagged rock form base with bare foot on lotus blossom above stylized waves. Figure rendered in pale peach to apricot colored stone and rock with a whiter finish. Approximate height 39.75", width 28", depth 20".
