Chinese, first half 20th century. A very large round porcelain charger with blue underglaze hand painted decoration on white ground, the central medallion with a figural scene of two figures within a landscape on the bank of a sea, one a courtly female at right standing before a knotty willow tree and extending a flowering branch in her hand toward a man servant at left holding a pail full of these branches, the wide brim of the plate with ornate band of diaper patterning punctuated by cartouches of spiral scrolls contained within cloud scroll forms with flowering stems sprouting from each side of the cartouches. Unmarked. Approximately 2.5" tall, 21.25" diameter.
Visible dirt and grime--would likely benefit from professional cleaning. Hairline crack running from edge to tondo of plate (approximately 3.75"). Charger not removed from older plate hanger. Minor scattered flakes to glaze on outer edge. A few scattered glazing imperfections throughout. Wear to bottom commensurate with age and shelf use. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
