German, Late 19th c. Monumental Black Forest carved and stained walnut figural clock, the case with leaves, branches, outcroppings of rock and family of mountain with one grazing on a leaf to the top, a juvenile and recumbent goat to the base, to the center a circular glazed door enclosing a conforming tin dial painted white with Arabic numerals and gilt hands, twin movement, 8 day. The whole raised on demilune form base carved with meander. Height 32", width 27", depth 10".
No key present. Damage to goats' horns & ears (see images 4 & 5). Minute chips to foliage. Repair to log on left side (see image 3). Areas of shrinkage to wood, commensurate with age. Slight wear to finish. Dial is in good condition & is not cracked. Door on back of clock has been replaced (see image 9). Newer wood on inside to support clock mechanism or movement. Would recommend servicing.
