- Lot Description
David Mann (American (New York), b. 1950). "Heat" - 1987, oil and wax on canvas, signed, dated, and titled to verso. Large abstract painting with heavily textured ground in tones of green and black with red and white intermingling at top and having two long vertical lines of reduction at center exposing gray underpaint. Framed approximately 93.5" x 38.25", unframed approximately 91" x 36.25". Note: David Mann currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His extensive resume including solo and group shows at such galleries as McKenzie Fine Art (New York City), Zolla Lieberman Gallery (Chicago, IL), Nina Freudenheim Gallery (Buffalo, N.Y.), Artcore Gallery (Toronto, Canada), and Elliot Smith Contemporary Art (St. Louis, Mo.). Mann also has works in select private and corporate collections including The Brooklyn Museum (Brooklyn, NY), Neuberger Berman (New York, NY), The Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Battery Park City, New York), Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Cayman Islands), Willkie, Farr, Gallagher (New York City), Bank of America (New York, NY), and Progressive Corporation (Mayfield Village, OH), also winning The Pollock Krasner Foundation Award in 2000. Mann is currently a professor of 2-D art at The New School, New York, NY.
