Chinese, late 19th/ early 20th century. A modified baluster form vase with hand painted decoration on white ground depicting a mountainous landscape in tones of green, blue, and pink, with scattered structures and flowering trees, a group of figures standing to lower right of composition near an arched bridge, with gilt animal mask handles to either side of neck flanked by lines of black calligraphic marks to either side, and backside of vase body with five lines of black calligraphic marks and one red seal mark, otherwise apparently unmarked. Approximately 22.25" tall x 9" diameter.
Chip with tight hairline fracture to inside on rim. Can be felt with fingernail but is barely visible to naked eye. Scattered areas of paint loss, commensurate with age & usage. Firing holes & other glazing imperfections present. Museum putty residue on base.
