Katherine Houston (American/ Boston, Massachusetts, 20th century. A collection of four hard paste porcelain tabletop sculptures of spring vegetables, circa 1994-1996, comprising of "Lying Beans with French Ribbon" (6.25" x 2.75"), "Rose Anthus Kale" (10.5" x 3.25"), "Spring Onion" (4" x 5"), and "Bouquet of Beans with French Ribbon" (7" x 3.5"), with both the bean pieces being bound with rose colored sculpted ribbon. Each piece marked on underside with artist's signature "KHO", "USA", date, and copyright symbol. Note: Houston's work is sold at such retailers as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman, with each individual piece in this lot selling for over $700. Provenance: From the Estate of Jane O. Day of Atlanta, Georgia. .
"Lying Beans with French Ribbon" - Two broken and not repaired bean tips on the top and one on the bottom. Minute chip to underside of ribbon. "Rose Anthus Kale" - Minute chip to center pink area of kale, however, not distracting. Scattered minute flea bites to ruffled edges of outer green kale. "Spring Onion" - Possible minute chip to ruffled neck of onion, however, not distracting. Overall good condition. "Bouquet of Beans with French Ribbon" - 4 areas of repairs to bean tips with slight glue residue, however, not distracting. Otherwise, good condition. All four pieces with vibrant color and glaze.
