Joseph Malachy Kavanagh RHA (Irish (active France / Belgium), 1856-1918), "Cherry Blossom Time"-1894, oil on canvas, signed and dated at lower left "J. Kavanagh 1894". Horizontally aligned figural pastoral landscape scene depicting a little girl in white gown collecting pink cherry blossoms in her upturned skirt in the foreground, with another figure, apparently a young boy, roaming about the green hillside under lush, blossoming cherry trees in the midground, with a large waterway, likely river, in the distance, with with separable label "J.R. Chaplain Private Collector Sarasota Florida John Malachy Kavanagh Irish 1856-1918 R:H.A. Exhibited at London Royal Academy and Paris Salon Listed; Behzit (Benezit), Leonards, AASI". Framed overall approximately 40" x 46". Unframed approximately 28" x 34". Note: Kavanagh was an important Irish painter and a member (sometimes called "keeper") of the Royal Hibernian Academy (RHA), which is an artist-based arts institution in Ireland (Irish (Dublin), founded 1823).Prior to bidding, please consult the additional photos provided and ask all pertinent questions (i.e. condition, size, etc.).
