Jean De Botton (French (active New York), 1898 - 1978) "Le Char du Soleil"-1960, oil on canvas, signed lower right. Abstracted figural work with Cubist rendering depicting scene of Helios and the chariot of the sun. Framed approximately 30.5" x 23". Unframed approximately 16.125" x 24.25".
Painting not relined. Mild oxidation to verso of canvas and stretcher commensurate with age. Linear scuff to lower center of matrix, approximate 2" long, over a small impression on the figure's leg through the paint layer, approximately 1cm. One small area of loss at lower left, approximately 4mm x 1mm. Under black light examination, no apparent repairs. No further apparent losses, tears, abrasions, or scuffs.
