Louis Henri Jean Charlot (French/American,1898-1979), "Large Malinches (Toy Fiesta)"-1936, color lithograph print on paper, pencil signed and limited edition noted lower right margin "85/240", additional signature and date within plate matrix lower right corner. Joyful scene depicting Mexican children celebrating and happily playing with toys outside, figures dressed up in costumes including crowns and bonnets, as they play in a sword fight, dog at front in the action and darting to across the scene. Framed approximately 24.5" x 32.25". Sight size approximately 16.5" x 24.5". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Reference: Morse 320.
Examined out of the frame. Sheet not laid down, affixed to front mat board with two pieces of hinging tape along upper edge - 1 small vertical tear below left hinging tape, approximately 4mm. Sheet allover with even and light toning, minor mat burn, and scattered light foxing. No further apparent tears or rips. No apparent losses or abrasions.
