Jean Charlot (French/ American, 1898-1979). "Luz Seated", lithograph on wove paper, artist's proof edition of 25, inscribed upper margin "25 Proofs. For James W. Lane, Jean Charlot, JC". Notated as given to James W. Lane, noted 20th century art critic, a diminutive print depicting Luz, a common subject in Charlot's works, seated in a ladderback chair with drape wrapped around her shoulders. Framed approximately 9.5" square. Sheet size approximately 2.375" x 2.5". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia. Note: this print may only exist in proof form, never having been fully produced as no further records can be found.
Sheet trimmed and mounted floating within a frame - not removed from frame in order to preserve condition. Light water staining to upper right of sheet extending to upper left - not overly distracting. A few scattered spots of foxing overall. No apparent pin holes, tears, or losses.
