Jasper Johns (American, b. 1930-), "0 Through 9" from "1st Etchings, 2nd State" - 1967-69, etching on wove paper with four deckled edges, pencil signed and dated lower right corner of sheet, pencil numbered lower left margin below image "11/40". Small etching to a single large sheet of paper focusing typographical form with the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in a serif typeface overlaid in the space of a single rectangular gray block. Label on verso with brief information on the work from Nathan A. Bernstein Co., 50 East 78th Street, New York, NY. Framed approximately 32.375" x 26.25". Sheet size approximately 26" x 19.75". Plate size approximately 4.75" x 3.625" (120mm x 92mm). Provenance: From the Private Collection of Benno & Babette Rothschild, Columbus, Georgia.
Item not examined out of frame as sheet is floating and we do not want to disrupt the integrity of the work. Light even toning to sheet throughout. Work does not appear to be cut down as all edges are still deckled. No signs of rips, tears, holes or fold lines. Light wear to all edges and corners from light handling. Scattered foxing throughout sheet predominately on left side. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
