Japanese, 18th/19th century. Figural scroll painting on silk depicting eight figures (Buddhist Immortals) in a lush and detailed landscape. Landscape with stylized clouds, rocky expanses, green trees and pink cherry blossom trees and animals such as a white spotted deer and a flying crane. Unmarked. Overall measures approximately 66.5" x 16.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. T. Elder Pearce in Ellijay, Georgia.
Right edge of silk lifting from support. Creases and some scattered pin point holes and thinning throughout silk. Paint layer stable. Discoloration in some areas more prominent in top right corner. Wear to edges. Split to support at right.
