Japanese, Meiji period (1868-1912), circa 1880. Patinated bronze table vase withy rounded lip above short neck with organic smooth cloud form at top of bulbous form with flowers in deep relief against textured ground. Marked on bottom with maker's stamp. Overall approximate height 9.5", diameter of foot 3.75". Provenance: Peter Sloane Objects & Works of Art, Grays Mews Gallery, London, England whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in May of 1995. Under black light examination, no apparent repairs. Underside of foot with scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. One side of foot with two vertical lines, likely clamp marks, beside a slightly dented foot edge. Body with handling wear to edges of leaves and some of the more prominent aspects of the relief decoration. No apparent chips, cracks, or losses.
