- Lot Description
Jan B. Balet (German/Swiss,1913-2009), "Honneur Aux Marins", oil on canvas board, signed lower left. Label on verso with title and artist's name, title inscribed in pencil on verso of canvas. Figural illustrative painting depicting three gentlemen and small white and brown spotted dog standing below French flags, two men at table in foreground with rolls of tickets on tabletop, both men at table are dressed in suits with French flag armbands, third gentleman is dressed as sailor smoking cigarette, wrought iron and stone gate behind figures with banner stating "Honneur Aux Marins". Framed approximately 23.5" x 29.5". Unframed approximately 19.25" x 25.5".
Condition
Painting overall in excellent condition. Under black light examination, evidence of slight frame rubbing along upper edge, and one tiny round abrasion lower right within grass field with in painting, approximately 1/16" wide.
