- Lot Description
Jacob Petit (French, 1796-1868), mid 19th century. A polychrome decorated porcelain perfume scent bottle, the disc-shaped stopper fitted in circular neck over circular shaped body decorated floral bouquets on black ground between claret and white ground heightened with parcel gilt. Signed underside of foot underglaze blue "J.P.". Approximate height 6.25", width 3.62", depth 1.75".
Condition
Scattered gilt loss to stopper and base; not overwhelming and commensurate with age and use. Gilt elements to stopper interior and interior of bottle neck have been refreshed; not detectable when stopper is in place. Surface abrasions to underside base; commensurate with shelf contact. Under black light examination no apparent signs of additional damage or repair.
