Louis Majorelle (French, Nancy 1859-1926), circa 1900. An important labeled Majorelle bowfront buffet with exquisite Art Nouveau burled walnut veneered panels at sides, fronts, and drawers, the upper section comprising a coral mottled glass inset panel iridized with spattered opalescence behind wrought iron decorative grapevine pattern comprising leaves, grapes, and stylized scroll vines, with one upper shelf with arched corners decorated with carved Art Nouveau stylized grapevine motifs, the paneled backboard with moldings decorated with striking burled walnut veneer above the lower section with bowfront work surface over the two-drawer facade with patinated flower pulls and central panel decorated with Art Nouveau stylized grape and leaf pattern, all raised on a conforming bowfront base with molded edge on four arched feet.
