Hickory Furniture Company for American Masterpiece line (American, 1975-1998). A Baroque style black lacquered china cabinet with gold leaf and painted chinoiserie decoration, the molded cornice with gilt banding surmounted by three bulbous turned finials, the upper case frieze decorated with gilt floral and c-scroll motifs and relief painted landscape with large flowers, swans, fence, and clouds above two glass doors framed by astragal moldings with conforming gilt pattern and flower motifs opening to a black lacquered interior with three glass shelves and small holes for the application of two additional shelves, all surmounting a coved waist molding, the lower case comprising two doors with gilt and relief painted chinoiserie landscapes with scenes of bodies of water, stylized trees, a distant mountain, human figures, buildings, and swans, the sides decorated with gilt and relief painted flower and tree motifs, all raised on cyma curved base decorated with gilt floral motifs.
