- Lot Description
20th century. Heavy cast and dark grey painted iron mythological figural garden sculpture at bust length in the form of the god Hermes or Mercury with winged cap over curled hair, calm attentive face with exposed chest. Overall supported on a round socle base. Unmarked. Approximate height 23.5" , width (across hat) 19.25".
Condition
Iron sculpture exhibiting scattered areas of oxidation - not distracting. Scattered remnants of red overpaint, likely intentional accents. No apparent fractures or cracks, surface with light and scattered surface scratches commensurate with general handling.
