Guy Bardone (French, b. 1927-), "Le Chat Jaune, Folegandros", oil on canvas, signed lower left "Bardone", verso with label from David Findlay Galleries (American, established 1870). Figural landscape painting depicting Greek village life in Folegandros, with two figures on a balcony, with a cat slinking along the ledge of a traditional cement rendered home, with the sea and sail boats visible in the distance, with sunset of brilliant pink hues on the horizon. Framed approximately 52" x 64.5". Unframed approximately 45.125" x 57.5". Note: Bardone is best known for his still lives and landscape paintings. He has travelled extensively and was deeply influenced by his time in Folegandros, Greece (depicted in the presented lot). The Folegandros works are notable for their clarity of light and serenity of scene.
Overall excellent condition. Painting is not re-lined. Black fabric adhesive tape surrounding canvas at stretcher. No apparent damage, repairs or losses.
