English (likely Yorkshire), 19th century. Collection of three carved architectural stone staddle stones in their traditional form akin to large mushrooms or toadstool with ridged circular domed caps on tapered textured bodies. Each unmarked, exterior with green mossy weathered patina. One approximate height 27.5", another approximate height 28.75", and the other approximate height 27.75". Provenance: Legacy Antiques. Clarkston, Michigan whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in 2004 and 2005. Note: Copy of invoices available upon request.
Each staddle stone weighs approximately 175 to 185 lbs. Each exhibited oxidized patina commensurate from age and exposure to outdoor elements. All with scattered moss and lichen growth. All with scattered losses to edges and large chunks out of bottoms of bases. All structurally sound. Two with removable tops. No other signs of damage, loss or repair.
