- Lot Description
Two pairs of silver butter pats comprising a pair of Preisner sterling pats and a pair of Spanish silver pats. The Preisner pats void of decoration with a 3" diameter and hallmarked on the back "Preisner/STERLING/787". The Spanish pats with decorated rim and floral repousse center having a 3.25" diameter and hallmarked on front rim with pentagram in a circle and "25" over "PM" in hexagon, indicating production in Baleares. Approximate weight of Preisner pats .95 troy ounces. Approximate weight of Spanish pats 1.72 troy ounces. Provenance: Property from the Estate of Mr. John L. Roper II, Former Owner and CEO of NORSHIPCO (Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation), of Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Roper collected a number of fine American antiques and art including a noteworthy early American coin collection that sold at auction in 2014.
