19th century. Group of three powder flasks (or rifle flasks; successor to powder horns), comprising "Hunting Scene with Two Dogs", copper / brass alloy, inscribed on top of collar "J. Matthewman", numerals inscribed on priming-spout or charger spout "5", 2 3/4", "2 1/2", "2 1/4", powder flask with single-face design depicting hunting scene with buck head crest, with oak leaves and acorn motifs surrounding depiction of two hunting dogs, with fox head at base, with screw mechanism spout, with three rings, one ring with leather strap; "Gadrooned", brass alloy, inscribed at top of collar "AM Flask and Cap Co.", powder flask gadrooned throughout, with three rings; "Fern", brass alloy, no apparent inscriptions, pocket powder flask (miniature or diminutive) double-face design depicting three-arm fern, with screw mechanism spout. "Hunting Scene with Two Dogs" from bottom of collar to base approximately 6.6". "Gadrooned" from bottom of collar to base approximately 6.5". "Fern" from bottom of collar to base approximately 4.5".
