Swiss, 20th century. Collection of two Black Forest carved and stained black walnut wood dog motif inkwells comprising of a dog's head with upturned alert ears, brown glass eyes, and happy facial expression with hinged top that opens to reveal circular well within, unmarked; and an inkwell in the form of a seated dog holding a satchel or bag strap in mouth with four smaller puppies within, dog's head with glass eyes hinged and opens to reveal recessed niche for inkwell within, unmarked. Dog holding satchel of puppies approximate height 4.75", width 3.25", depth 4.75". Dog's head inkwell approximate height 3.25", width 2.75", depth 3.75".
Light wear to wood stain visible from photographs. No signs of cracking or repairs. Each with light wear to bottom commensurate with age and shelf use. Dog with basket in mouth with small space between hinged top and bottom. Each without glass inkwell liner. No other signs of damage, loss or repair. Very good condition overall.
