- Lot Description
Gracie Studio (American, New York, founded 1898), 2000s. A hand painted chinoiserie motif wallpaper panel, rendered in gouache on paper mounted on canvas, having a peony bush with lush pink, lavender, and yellow blooms and green foliage, the foreground with a low pink container with a blooming lavender wild rose, with a quail and flying birds, against a light peach background. Inscribed "SY 9L" in pencil to lower left recto, two labels to lower right recto, one reading "Sample/Not For Sale," the other "SY 9L / 1/31/07 Inventory 7+3+2 Panels / SY 9 / CGS035 / SY 9L". Approximate height 98", width 36.625".
Condition
Creasing with surface losses to panel overall, with rubbing to surface from being rolled. Some cracking, tearing to edges, and surface losses to panel. Areas of smudging with some marks and staining. Ends mounted on wooden supports. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
