Gorham (American (Rhode Island), founded 1831), circa 1902-1906. A small sterling silver asparagus dish or ice cream dish in the Poppy pattern (introduced 1902) of rectangular form with wide undulating rim bearing repousse poppy flowers and leaves. Underside with impressed maker's mark over "STERLING" and "A4398" and "Drosten" for the St. Louis retailer; also with "2F". Approximately 14.625" x 10.875". Approximate weight 20.9 troy ounces.
Overall good condition. Exceptionally little pitting throughout. Minor surface scratches to top commensurate with use. Underside with very minor spots of corrosion and scattered surface scratches commensurate with surface contact and use.
