Gorham (American (Rhode Island), founded 1831). A 57 piece set of sterling silver flatware in the Chantilly pattern (1950 re-release) comprising 4-piece place settings for 9 plus additional place setting pieces and many serving pieces. Set comprises 9 dinner forks (7.5"), 9 teaspoons (5.75"), 9 individual salad forks (6.5"), 9 dinner knives with stainless blades (9.125"), six demitasse spoons with gold wash bowls (4.125"), four iced tea spoons (7.5"), a tablespoon serving spoon (8.375"), a solid serving fork (8.5"), a large solid jelly server (6.25"), a cheese knife with stainless blade (6.875"), a solid bon bon spoon (4.5"), a short handle pickle fork or olive fork (5.75"), a solid piece cream ladle (5.25"), a pie & cake server with stainless blade (10.5"), a modern hollow butter spreader (6.25"), a lemon fork (4.25"), and a short handled olive spoon (5.875"). Total approximate weight (less 0.5 troy ounces for each stainless element) 67.4 troy ounces.
Overall each piece with signs of use including minor surface scratches and abrasions. No apparent pitting. Handles with concentrated abrasions to area where monogram would typically be present, but there are no apparent removals - this surface is raised within the design and might have had more surface contact. No bent fork tines, blade losses, or dents.
