- Lot Description
Mitchell, Margaret (American (Atlanta, Georgia), 1900-1949). "Gone With The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell, 1st edition, 1st printing, published in 1936 by The Macmillan Company, signed by the author on first free endpaper, with original pictorial dust jacket and original gray cloth binding with blue lettering and decoration to front cover and spine. First printing with "Published May, 1936" on copyright page (verso of title page), and dust jacket with Gone With The Wind listed 2nd in the right hand column. Housed in later custom clamshell box with gilt lettering on gray cloth. Book approximately 8.75" x 6.125" x 2".
Condition
Dust jacket covered completely with clear protector. Dust jacket exhibiting toning overall. Some cracking to surface present at right edge of front cover area, this above a small abrasion at the lower right corner. Back interior flap with loss at top corner - not entering matrix. Book with foxing to bookcloth covers, with worn corners on binding edge, and minor cracking along top edge of binding - binding stable with no apparent loose or detached pages. Interior pages with toning and some foxing commensurate with age, no apparent tears. Some curling/handling apparent at page edges, but no apparent losses.
