Jean-Baptiste Huguet (French, late 18th/ early 19th century). A gold plated .950 sterling silver lidded compote on stand of Kylix form with Neoclassical motif circa 1805, the compote with laurel leaf bands to round foot and neck and scrolling arms to opposing sides, each adorned at apex with ancient Greek or Roman style male figural bust and having bell flower garland to outer surface, the stand on four clawed feet with child harpy busts above open wings and with concave well to center. Marked to underside and inner rim of stand with maker's mark and Paris 950/1000 standard hallmark dating 1798-1809, top of stand with Paris 950/1000 standard hallmark and Paris Guaranty mark, bottom of compote with maker's mark and indistinguishable second mark, exterior of compote with Guaranty Paris mark near base and Paris 950/1000 standard hallmark near rim, lid two indistinguishable marks beside Paris Guaranty mark. Overall approximately 7.125" tall, 8.375" diameter across feet. Total approximate weight 46 troy ounces. Provenance: From the Estate of Sam & Florence Inman, Atlanta, Georgia.
Impressed makers mark PJBH in a diamond indicating manufacturer Jean-Bartiste Huguet (French, 1895 - 1923). Each piece is hallmarked accordingly. There are surface scratches, wear and loss to gold vermeil to all three pieces. Polish residue on figural mounts. Lid to compote fits nice and snug.
