Chinese, 20th century. A Rose Medallion large porcelain center bowl with gilt bronze scroll foot base with reticulated border and scrolled loop form handles that spring off of base and connect to a gilt bronze border at top with border of reticulated circles. Porcelain bowl decorated with traditional Rose Medallion motif of courtly figural scenes in rectangular cartouches that are surrounded by clusters of prunus fruit, chrysanthemum blossoms, and precious objects. Approximately 14.25" tall x 24.25" handle to handle. Provenance: Former catcher with the Chicago Cubs and one of Nashville's most prolific restaurateurs.
Bowl and mounts would benefit from cleaning. Porcelain bowl with four small drill holes to bottom to support mounting. Unable to see if the upper rim or lower rim have been damaged due to metal mounts. No signs of cracks, losses or repairs. Wear to bottom commensurate with age.
