- Lot Description
German, mid to late 19th century. A carved and stained oak wall clock, having an architectural form, with a shingled roof, over a gilt bronze clock face with Roman numerals and pierced hands, flanked on either side by turned pilasters, with metal mounted spandrels, a molded base, an exposed gilt bronze pendulum, turned columns, a pierced gallery and turret sides, and a shaped lower drop. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 36", width 11.5", depth 5.5".
Condition
Clock appears to be in working order. Key present. Minor wood splits--most visible surrounding glazed front. Oxidation to metal throughout. Losses and wear to silvered chapter ring. Losses to two turned wood supports on front of case. Losses to wood on front of case from pendulum swinging and rubbing. Top finial broken (see image #3). Back corbel accent on left and right side of case with visible glue repair. Front corbel on right side of case missing. Hole drilled at lower ornament (likely by previous owner for additional support when hanging on wall). Minor separation at seams. Working condition however strike needs adjusting. No other signs of overt damage, loss or repair.
