- Lot Description
George Bunn (British, fl.1885 - 1898), "Marine Painting with Sailboats And Windmill" -1889, oil on canvas, signed and dated at lower right "Geo. Bunn. - Anvers 89." . Marine or seascape painting depicting serene seas with sailboats and fisherman, with low flying seabirds (seagull), with windmill in the distance, likely Netherlands. Unframed approximately 27.125 x 22.125".
Condition
Overall with even toning throughout. Paint surface stable, with scattered craquelure. Painting re-lined with added grosgrain support to edges. Lower left quadrant with original handling of oceanic current, with later retouching that exaggerates current. Under black light examination: in-painting to all edges consistent with frame rubbing, with more heavy in-painting to upper right corner; with signs of in-painting to ship.
