- Lot Description
Giuseppe Puricelli (Italian, 1825 - 1894). "The Falconer" - 1862, oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left "G. Puricelli Guerra". Painting depicts a pair of figures, one being a falconer with a bird on his arm, in the middle of a lush field before a mountainside lake on a sunny day beneath clouded blue skies. Painting is presented in a wooden frame with gilt accents and chamfered corners. Framed 67" x 114".
Condition
Under black light examination, scattered retouching throughout trees, clouds, and near edges from rubbing on frame. Patch repair at back (right of work). Long retouch running approximately 8.5" from vertical paint loss. Craquelure throughout. Paint layer stable. Painting on original canvas and has not been relined. Oxidation to frame and canvas.
